Live Stream Viewer
|
|
|
|
|
Certain application may benefit from being able to stream 'live' video from an encoder to other PCs on the same network.
The DVRi and DVR Pro units already support this feature, known as UDP streaming.
In order to receive and replay the video, each PC on the network needs to have client side software installed.
Due to the compliance of our units, there are many vendors of suitable software out there which can be found by searching the internet. We have found a particularly simple and easy to use product from Elecard.
It can be downloaded from their website from here - or from our file downloads page. |

| Setup Instructions: |

Firstly, you must enable live streaming on the digital video encoder. From the setup page of the DVRi - top-right of the pages is "LIVESTREAM ON:". A tick needs to go in the box here.
The address and port information should be left as default - unless you intend having multiple streams available on the network, in which case, each encoder should have a different port, typically 1900, 1901, 1902 .... etc. Address should always be left at 224.1.1.1
** caution - each stream will add a level of network activity - check with your IT dept that your network can support UDP multicast ** |

Assuming that the encoder has been setup to run on the same network as the other PCs (same IP range etc) - the next step is to download and install the Elecard software on the remote viewing PCs.
(download links above)
Once installed, the Elecard software sits as a plug-in to media player, waiting for someone to open a UDP stream.
Now - open Windows media player. From the file menu, select "open URL" - and enter:
elecard://224.1.1.1:1900/udp
(if applicable, replace 1900 to match that setup in DVRi) |
